Kick Arse

Sarah Howett Profile

Friday, May 22, 2009

I have known Gary and Elly for several years now but I have been enjoying their clothing range ever since I started learning kickboxing 10 years ago, this was the first time that I discovered the unique style that is Black & Blue. I was a big fan of Stan "The Man" and seeing him wearing the gear, I knew it must have been good.

I commenced fighting in 2006 and that is when my training began to get serious and more intense and from then on Black & Blue have conitnually supported me fight after fight and I am so proud and honoured to now be the one waving the Black & Blue flag at each of my fights.

To date, I have had 7 Fights, 6 wins, 3 by way of knockout.

4 Muay Thai, 1 Professional Boxing and 2 Amateur Boxing fights.

I hold the current WKA South Pacific Title for Muay Thai and the WKA Victorian Muay Thai Title.

In between fights, I follow another profession as an Actor. I studied full time in the Performing Arts and have also founded my own Production Company called, No Dramas. I've done several stage performances and short films and am currently awaiting release of my first feature film. The character I am most known as would be "Viper from channel 7's Gladiators. I continue to perform and develop my craft outside of the intense fight training."

Leading up to a fight, I train twice a day 4-5days during the week and once on Saturday. My morning sessions are free to do as I please so they generally consist of running/sprints, swimming or yoga. The afternoon sessions are always based around boxing training with my trainer and sparring.

I like to keep my options open when it comes to future aspirations and I go with my instincts. People ask me whether I will only stick to boxing now as opposed to kickboxing, I honestly do not know. I love the art of boxing and the subtle movements of slipping and countering punches but some days I just want to kick. There is so much to learn and the more you practise and keep your mind open to all options, the more you will discover about yourself and grow as a fighter.
